Thank you for joining us for our last gathering. The pool side party was very fun…..a little chilly, but very fun! Thank you to Kesa and Kevin Labanowski who hosted the event. Our cause was suggested by two women in our group, Tiffany Boulad and Cat Cantos. They nominated Ava Mortier. This is the story of a 7 year old Petaluma Girl with an amazing heart, an adventurous spirit and a committed family. She was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma. Her treatment has temporarily taken her and her parents out of Petaluma. They are out of state seeking the best possible treatment available. Tiffany and Cat met Ava because their daughters were in the same play group. Their families have bonded…..sharing birthdays, field trips and family vacations together. For these friends, it has been hard to fathom what Ava and her family are going through.
This gathering was therapeutic in so many ways. Friends of Ava had a nice forum to share their connection to her and they were able to offer positive intentions for a healthy recovery. Nicole Whitehorn was very thoughtful to put a video montage together. It was a nice way to capture Ava’s personality and display the beautiful connection between all of their families.
The Fabulous Women raised $2,301.15. This amount will serve the family well. Thank you for everyone’s generosity especially the women who could not make it but still sent in a check. That’s incredible! I’d also like to acknowledge Anna Ross who came out and displayed her beautiful jewelry from Premier Jewelry Designs. Her generous donation helped the cause and she provided some fun light shopping for the ladies!
This week our care package will be sent to Ava. Thank you to everybody who helped build the construction paper chain. The chain will help decorate Ava’s room. In addition to our donation, the Fabulous Women also included an angel necklace. It’s just a reminder for Ava that we’re cheering her on and sending positive affirmations from Petaluma.
Ava’s parents are sharing her story through a blog on the internet called, “Caring Bridge.” Feel free to log on to the address below. It will give you additional details about Ava and her special family. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/avamortier
